When installing a SoundBlaster Xtreme gamer soundcard, I lose my X1950 Pro video card

I'm far from what could be called a techie, so this issue definitely has me baffled.

I have a P4 2,4Ghz, 1535 Mo of RAM, running Windows Vista.
Motherboard is a Gigabyte 8IPE1000-L (rev. 2)
Video card is a Radeon X1950 Pro 512M GDDR3 AGP Dual

I have just bought a Creative Sound Blaster Xtreme Gamer soundcard, which specifically states on the package that it works with Windows Vista.

When I put in the soundcard, the computer stops recognizing the video card and stops seeing the drivers for it, which leaves me with a crappy 640 x 480 image and no sound.

I have tried the soundcard in each of the 5 PCI slots, with the same results.

The soundcard is the ONLY card in the computer, other than the AGP video card. For the time being, I've put in an old Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI card, but obviously I'd like to figure out what the glitch is that prevents me from using the new card.

Any ideas? Feel free to ask for additional info if need be.

First, im sure that gigabyte mobo has integrated sound. you shouldve disabled it if you hadnt to begin with.

if that doesnt work you need to go to device manager and see what yellow flags are up. that will tell you some problems
