d3dx9_34.dll is included in DirectX redist June 2007 and newer.
November 2007 DirectX redistributable Would it be too much to ask to use a spellchecker? |

Finally, an answer on ye olde d3dx9_34.dll thing...
...oh god, this took me a while...
It's important to note that I'm using Vista Home Premium edition. I downloaded the DirectX 9c package (November_2007), and excitedly waited so that I could play Call of Duty 4. Needless to say, I ran into the same issue. Here's what to do... When it asks for an install location, choose a "temp" folder on C:\ . Then, when it's finished installing to this "temp" location, go in and find the 'd3dx9_34.cab' file. Double click, and open. Inside you'll find the d3dx9_34.dll file. Right click on the file and choose extract. A dialogue box will then ask you where you would like to extract it. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\en-US\ and extract away! You don't even have to restart Vista. Just refresh the folder. Hope this helps...by the way....this game freakin' rulz! |

You are using Vista. Vista uses DX10 not DX9...

oh, to the contrary...I'll send a screenshot if I need to...but, I'm using both.
...and they're quite compatible with one another. DirectX 9 or 10 has nothing to do with the operating system. It has to do with how your GPU talks to the operating system. Both work fine on Vista. ..thanks for the reply! |

for 64-bit....
NOTICE TO ALL 64-BIT USERS::
In 64-bit versions of Windows, 64-bit dll's go into the SYSTEM32 folder. 32-bit dll's go into the SYSWOW64 folder. Make sure you are placing the 64-bit version and 32-bit version of d3dx9_34.dll in their correct respective places! if you need more info, then send me an email viperthunderx at hotmailcom |

D3dx9= direct3d directx9,
_34 is the version Try this, http://www.softwarepatch.com/windows/directx.html You simply need to get the file, and put it in the right place on your OS. For vista it should go in C:\Windows\System32\en-US\ as code_puncher previously said, and this post pretty much sums up ever possible way to get the file where it needs to be for just about any OS. If your having trouble simply read the post. This is backwards... do the opposite of that \l/ Quote:
