Custom Case Modding - Shortening SATA cable

Gentlemen,

Is it possible to shorten the SATA cable? Let says i want most off, leaving just few inch between the HD and the MB ?

Is there a guide out there, i googled it, it is not there, anyway.

Any help?

Same thing with IDE cable too.

Unless you're very precise, don't. There are 2'-4' cables I've seen come with MoBo's before, so Im sure you can find some place to buy them. My advice is don't risk it.

EDIT 2 inches - 4 inches, not feet ^^

What about the IDE cable?

I would like to shorten it to.. like 3 inches.

EDITED =

Again, sorry, it is for my Slim desktop project, which my dvd burner will be just above the MB, the cable will be drop directly to there.

It should work fine and be easy to do. I lengthened a sata cable with no problems at all.
