What scam is this?
i recently posted something on craigslist for sale and so far in less than 3 hours i have 2 emails, both of the emails are very simular.
and they are obviously both scams. just wondering if anyone has seen this? here are the links to the screenshots i took from my emails. http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7006/scam2ah4.jpg http://img81.imageshack.us/img81/7568/scamvq0.jpg so basicly, they want to send me money via "bad" cashiers check. pay for the shipping and western union them back the "change" left over. lol do people really fall for this crap? EDIT: btw, check out the spelling lol, i live in southern cali and this has got to be from ppl south of the border or from some other land. i know my spelling +typo's are bad, but not that bad ![]() Last edited by tastegw; 01-11-2008 at 12:58 AM. |

Check = cheque in american english speak.
This is a really common scan in Europe and works because of the following: 1 - there really are people out there silly enough to deal with such offers 2 - the money orders are fake but you don't find out until weeks later when the bank bounces them 3 - the 'buyer' is not generally interested in what you are selling - and in fact more often than not never turn up for it. |

Think of it as a Newspaper Ad......
I'd just leave my phone number, and filter with the answering machine. Um, the way Craig's List tells you to do. Leaving am Email address anywhere seems to be an invitation for abuse. Why rely on it? Macafee's "Site Advisor" gave my one of my local TV stations a "Yellow" rating because when they registered an Email Address, they received over 30 unsolicited Emails a month.
"Cheque" is "check" en Espanol, entonces; Quiza, es como usted dice, ellos estan de sur de la frontera. |
