More details here. AGP still lives on for some more time.

My thoughts exactly mate. But still, would an 8800 series card be able to max out the AGP bandwidth? Or would this one spell the last upgrade for AGP users?

It wouldn't for me after seeing what happened with the 2400 and 2600 drivers. Most users had to drop to 4x aperture, or install older drivers which reduce frame rates. In my opinion AGP should have died with the X1950 Pro, the last decent AGP card, again in my opinion.

Now, if ATI releases a new driver that has 100% support for AGP and directX10 -> then I would say it should be a definite upgrade for most users that are still using AGP.

It blows my mind why they can't just have 2 new releases of drivers 1)for pci-e cards and 2) for AGP cards. There download site is already set up for it, where you check your OS version, then your card version, just have it direct you to the proper driver for your card like it is supposed to.
