Wireless Network Found No Internet

i Have Wireless internet on my laptop and i'm in the same room as my desktop. the desktop is connected to the same network with very good signal stregnth and will not get internet even tho my lap top does.

Start - Run - InetWiz

Also Start - Run - CMD
In the command line run
IPCONFIG /Release
and then
IPCONFIG /Renew

By the way, it's a little hard to understand

Wireless Laptop Internet and Network OK
Desktop (wireless?) Network OK; No Internet

Is that right

Kimsland, you rock btw!

You could also try and repair the connection by allowing Windows to do that for you.

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Control Panel
  3. Click "Classic View" in the top left-hand corner of the opening screen
  4. Double-click "Network Conections"
  5. Right-click on your wireless connection
  6. Click "Repair" from the drop down menu
  7. Let Windows try and repair the connection

***Also, ensure that you have the correct wireless security password on the machine that is not allowing you to connect***

If kimsland's idea's do not work and mine do not work, post your reply. Thank you! :grinthumb

Did it EVER get a connection or is this the first time attempting wireless access on the Desktop?

Same problem...solution not working

Hi~

I'm searching for a solution to this same problem. I have a laptop with Vista that connects to the internet no problem. I have a desktop with XP Home Edition that recognizes the wireless connection but I cannot connect to the internet.

I had this issue last month and just couldn't deal so went and bought my laptop. Now I want to prepare my desktop to sell to my neighbors (but won't if it cannot connect to the internet!!!!) so trying to deal with this again. I did Darik's Nuke & Boot yesterday and reinstalled windows xp today. I then tried to connect to the internet and could not, followed your instructions above and will not allow me to renew. What next?

What other information do you need from me to diagnose?

Thanks....this forum is always so helpful!!!!!!!

Cindy
