Boot disk for Dell Inspiron 1100 series

the problem I am having is that configurte set up is disabled, so I can't change the bootable order. It is configured in this order:

diskette drive
Internal HDD
CD/DVD drive

There are many programmes (ISO, eg home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/cd070927 . zip) that purport to work to obtain windows passwords but they won't boot from a CD because of the set up. Do I need to find a 3.5" floppy diskette, copy the ISO onto it and try to boot from that? where from? A second hand shop?
I would much rather find out or reset the admin password so I can use configure set up.
Can anyone help?

windows passwords
?

Just go to safe mode, log into Administrator account
Go to users in Control Panel
Then click on each user, and remove user password

I would quite happily use DST CD ISO and DST FLOPPY from download.centre4service.com/software1 but again, I'll need to find a floppy won't I? that's the first thing to boot from, then the HDD.
I don't have any floppy disks! Any other way round this?

Sorry, I meant BIOS password. Bought the laptop from a car boot sale so don't have admin password. At the sale, they did tell me that without an administrators password I wouldn't be able to install any new programmes, which I will need to do.

If Windows does not start (from what you're saying)
And you want to remove the cmos password anyway (understandably so)
Then yes you may need to get a floppy drive, and extract the bootable part from the ISO CD (I use UltraISO, but the floppy probably already exists anyway) and boot off that

Floppy drive required (Dell will sell you one!)

Oh you have the drive!
Yes they still sell them (get the colored ones - actually any old one)

You might be able to use "clrcmos" program to clear the cmos password on a bootable floppy (just right click on A drive in My computer - Select format - select create bootable disk) then copy clrcmos to it

Let us know how you go

HP Compaq nx9010 Hashcode 11117

How about an HP Compaq NX9010, System Hash 11117

Any help would be appreciated. I tried in the stickied post, but I was overwhelmed by all the Dell posts that followed mine. The PM's of people telling me to pay them for the code wasn't all that helpful either.

I guess either using them as paperweights or asking all of you are my only remaining options... I really enjoyed the challege so far but Im thinking strongly about using a hammer to fix the problem... any assistance you may offer would be great.

these are the instructions regarding a c 640 I hope it is ok to forward it it was sent to me by a webmaster @ paragons site...I am thankful but apparently Knackless.

"If you have the knack for shorting the C640 uses pins 3 and 5 and is one of the easiest to short out, put a working battery in and a mains lead and short 3 to 5 whilst powering on the laptop for about 3-6 seconds, do it about 4 times, then remove the battery and the mains and short whilst rapidly pressing the power button about 10 times, then reapply the power and reshort for 3-4 seconds at which point the manufacturer mode should come up.

Remember then to run the DST software to replace the service tag."

Thanks Kimsland

Thanks, Kimsland for all your help. Unfortunaltely, I'm the stupid one. Despite the boot order saying : Diskette drive then HDD, the 3.5" floppy disks I bought don\'t fit. there is a slot, but it's smaller than this. What type of diskette drive does the dell Inspiron 1100 have and what disks do I need to buy? I've been all over town for 3.5" (the old standard) and they don't fit!

Am I stupid?

defnition of killed:

yes I tried to short it out and at the end of my endeavor I firmly believe I have killed the laptop as it no longer powers up.. after a short prayer i pulled the memory and the battery and laid it to rest... it was a said moment

Inspiron E1405

hello everyone, i am happy to join this forum.
This is my first post, and I have my laptop (dell Inspiron E1405 using same board as 640M)) locked so i can't no longer boot or even enter bios setup.
I tried to find the EEPROM written 24xxxxx in the motherboard. But I could not find the chip. Before I go ahead, I just want to know if this model can be solved with the shortening the bios chip. If it's possible please anyone tell me where the right chip is and the name of the chip or help me to find the master password. My service tag number is BHYL2C1-595b
thanks

@luvdup just take your laptop into any computer service shop, and ask for a floppy disk that fits your drive (they might even have an external drive that you could use)
