System specs
Purchase a external USB CD-Rom, they can range anywhere from $20-$100.

dude,
in order for a usb device to be recognized by the machine, it has to have an operating system, since usb is not native to bios like floppy. so, without an os, i doubted you can get a machine to boot from a usb device. i may be wrong.

tuant,
thanks for the suggestions. i did have a usb cd-rom drive with double mode (int-ext) i hooked it up. at first try, it didn't boot, but when i tried ext mode, it booted right up. thanks for your help. i guess i was wrong. somehow, the bios recognized it on this machine.
thanks again.
cheers.
