How to make Windows server 2003 recognize 500GB HD

I have bought a new 500GB(SATA) hard disk and tried to install Windows server 2003 OS but the setup is showing one 238GB partition space only. Will this be ok if I just go ahead and install the OS, and would I be able to expand to use the entire 500GB later if I apply the service pack I and 2 later, or upgrade to R2? How should I proceed to be able to use the entire hard disk? The BIOS has already shown a 500GB hard disk being attached.

Would appreciate if someone could lend a helping hand on this issue. Thank you.
