Aside from mediocre contrast, the Asus Rog Strix XG27UCS is a stellar gaming monitor. It has a razor-sharp picture and incredibly precise and flexible video processing. For 4K gameplay, there is nothing better for the money.

Is the ROG Strix XG27UCS worth it? I like that this monitor offers the Fast IPS technology that minimizes streaks and ghosting. Plus, the panel's real-world performance aligned, for the most part, with its spec list. The display's black tones turn out to be more of a dark gray, but this really isn't that perceptible during regular use unless you have the XG27UCS right next to an OLED monitor.

The Asus ROG Strix XG27UCS is a good gaming monitor with great colors and speed for an IPS panel but doesn’t push itself to greatness. Its contrast is only average and the price, while better than some others on the market, is still too high compared to options like the Gigabyte M27U, which offers more for around the same or lower (at least, over the seven months preceding this review).
