But, for players who can dive into the full series all at once, Telltale’s Batman easily stands strong as one of the Dark Knight’s greatest video game outings, providing a gripping tale that clearly separates itself from a standard Batman affair. Add in more interactive gameplay sequences and improved visuals, and you have not only one of Telltale’s best seasons to date, but the return of a promising video game future for Bruce Wayne, Batman, and the city of Gotham.
Closing off the season of Batman: The Telltale Series, episode five wraps up several plot points while still leaving room for new ones to start. Telltale managed to successfully establish a new universe for these familiar characters, creating a divide...
Every Batman fan knows that not every story has a happy ending. Good usually triumphs over evil, but that doesn't mean the hero lives happily ever after. This is true in Batman: The Telltale Series.Related: Batman: The Telltale Series reviews: Episode...
Rather than be a series where Batman always feels a step behind an ever-elusive bad guy, Telltale has instead opted to have new and intriguing foes to take on with each episode. A consistent political undercurrent tied to Bruce’s backstory, and how his parents weren’t all they seemed, adds further intrigue to the plot that I can’t wait to explore in episode two.
Episode 5 neatly concludes a tense, multi-layered series with engrossing character development and creative surprises in store for even the most dedicated Batman fans. The detective mode sequences are slow and tedious and there are some major pacing issues, especially in the abrupt and confusing ending. Overall, though, my interest in Telltale’s versions of Gotham, Bruce Wayne and Batman never faltered, thanks to a constantly evolving, largely unpredictable story.
Predictable, often boring, and finishing off with an abrupt ending – this episode disappointed me in many ways. However, I was also drawn in by the tragic relationships that arise out of Bruce’s dual lives as a billionaire and the Caped Crusader. Even though City of Light doesn’t make that the focal point of the episode (as the best episodes in the series have done), it still gives those elements enough time to make the experience entertaining. I won’t spoil anything, but the ending is strong enough that I hope Telltale takes another shot at the Bat and builds something off this sturdy foundation.
