The music importing functionality works on a basic level, but doesn’t affect gameplay in the way it advertises. There are admirable parts, like how other players can randomly join you (with permission), and you can start seamlessly playing against one another.
If you and a friend are looking for a way to blow through a few hours, you'll enjoy the rush of racing in this neo-punk environment. It's a hoot while it lasts, but that's sadly not very...
XYLA Entertainment has just released an interesting platform game through Steam Greenlight, named Rush Bros. What appears to be a generic platform game at first glance, Rush Bros. takes on a different appearance once you point the game towards your MP3...
Part racing game and part 2D platformer, Rush Bros. is full of high speed excitement. Unfortunately, there isn't much to do once you've completed the 40+ races. Even more disappointing are the balance issues found in the competitive online mode. Rush...
Video games that react to your personal music collection are nothing new. In fact, these types of games have been around for years. Rush Bros. attempts to dish out its own music-based experience, mixing your custom tracks with 2D platforming gameplay....
Online or local races and leaderboards do add some value if you're into such things, and you might play longer still just because the game offers a unique way to experience your music library, but otherwise, you're probably better off amusing yourself with some other game while your MP3 player serves as the DJ.
The care, attention and style applied to this game makes it one for everyone’s library. And that’s another point, they music you enjoy will hugely impact the pace of play, the way you play, and the way you interact with the game. In this sense, this game has no demographic beyond those who enjoy music and games, and surely that’s everybody.
Rush Bros is a really solid platform game. The levels look good, it’s fun to get through them and the combination of techno music and pulsating graphics really add an extra dimension to the genre. However, the game is too short for people looking just to complete it – it focuses itself on the more hardcore gamer, looking to get the quickest time on a level.
Overall Rush Bros is a disappointment. It is an average platformer that is let down by its poor controls. Sure, it has an ok split screen mode, but its not worth buying just for that at it’s current price. The developers are still developing this game so they might fix some of these issues in the future.
Rush Bros is a slick platformer with a cool theme and aesthetic, but one that feels like it limited its audience with its focus on speed runs. I think it could have been made a lot better if the difficulty had been tweaked to be more challenging than it is, and if the musical gimmick had been used to greater effect
Rush Bros. is available now on PC and Mac with an Andoid version on the way. It offers cross-platform play so that Mac gamers can play against their PC counterparts.
I'm a sucker for music-based games. Titles like Lumines, Dance Dance Revolution, and Audiosurf have held a special place in my heart for years by combining spot-on gameplay with an excellent infusion of music and rhythm. When I heard Rush Bros was a...
I love a good indie game, there is something refreshing about a game that costs just a few pounds, but still packs a fair few hours of original entertainment, it reminds me of my youth and being able to visit the arcades for a few games on weird and...
