Playing cooperatively with a couple of buddies helps smooth over some of these problems, but regardless, combat remains incessantly tedious. The one hope is that the fanatical Games Workshop community grabs hold of the game and starts modding, because the visuals, atmosphere, and ferocity of the combat could be harnessed and turned into something impressive. As is, even the most crazed Warhammer 40,000 or Space Hulk fan will have a tough time appreciating Space Hulk: Deathwing.
Space Hulk: Deathwing – Enhanced Edition is an improvement on the original version, but still nothing more than a semi-decent co-op shooter chained to a ditchwater dull campaign. The developers clearly know and love the 40K universe, and there's enough...
I'm a huge fan of the Warhammer 40K lore, despite never actually having played the tabletop. I was always more for watching than participating, as I found it was easier to enjoy the fruits of others' labour than to expend my own effort and money. It's a...
In Space Hulk: Deathwing we play as a Librarian enlisted in the Dark Angels, a company of Space Marines. Players will use a mix of violent weapons such as the Bolter, Flamer and the Thunder Hammer. What sets Librarians apart from their brethren is their...
Space Hulk: Deathwing is a collection of opposites. Its attention to detail is both astonishing and flawed, its shooting hit and miss, and its co-op gameplay both satisfying and...
The license property for Space Hulk has already had a transition from board game to PC before. Recent adaptations were Space Hulk and Space Hulk Ascension. Both of those replicated playing the Games Workshop board game by turning it into a 3D,...
With underwhelming presentation, disappointing gameplay and lots of technical issues, Space Hulk: Deathwing fails to live up to its potential. The game attempts to stay true to the source material, but even so requires players to be familiar with the...
An exercise in apathy, neither solid nor liquid. Not exactly bad, but not very good either. Just a bit "meh," really. How we score: The Destructoid Reviews...
Space Hulk: Deathwing is that paradoxical game that's hard to dislike, but also hard to love. The glorious moments of fervent xeno-purging are too fleeting, and often left me standing in dark corridors, surrounded by my slain foes, looking for any kind...
Space Hulk: Deathwing is a sadly boring and uninspiring shooter. A repetitive single player that could have been saved by a strong multiplayer is just lost due to technical issues and the sad fact is that the game simply isn't good...
Space Hulk: Deathwing is a first-person shooter experience of Games Workshop’s classic Space Hulk boardgame set in the universe of Warhammer 40,000. Developed on Unreal Engine 4, the game offers players the chance to experience a...
Space Hulk: Deathwing boasts the best, most stylistically accurate Warhammer 40,000 visuals yet created, bar none. It's precisely how the grim darkness of the far future should look and feel. However, the incredible eye-candy of this new FPS is not...
I'm pleasantly surprised by Space Hulk: Deathwing. From a gameplay perspective, what it does it does in better form than Warhammer 40k: Fire Warrior by leaps and bounds. Space Hulk: Deathwing is another great step into bringing the entirety of the...
At the very least Deathwing deserves to go on your wishlist and an occasional eye kept on developments to see where Streum On takes its efforts over the coming few weeks. If performance can't be stabilised and gameplay rebalanced reasonably quickly, Deathwing is in considerable danger of being deserted.
