Not only does the Core 2 Duo E6700 operate at a higher clock frequency than the Athlon64 3800+, but it also has two powerful cores helping it along. This being the case, the Core 2 Duo was much faster in all the synthetic CPU performance tests. The gains achieved in the SiSoft2007 multimedia test were astonishing, as were those recorded in Super PI. However, while these results are impressive, we are more concerned with building an affordable gaming system in this article, something that the Core 2 Duo E6700 is not!
