1920x1200 display problem with docked Lenovo

Hi All,

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X200 (model: 7459-VZ9) with a docking station. This connects to my Samsung 2693HM display via VGA (no DVI available on the laptop or docking station). The native screen resolution on the laptop monitor is 1280x800, but when docked I would to use 1920x1200 on the 2693HM. This doesn’t work however: even though 1920x1200 is available in the list of resolutions (and listed as recommended), when I select it I get a weirdly distorted output – only about the top 1/3 of the screen and 6/8 of the width is shown all stretched and distorted. What can cause this problem, and can it be solved? Is it the 2693HM, the X200, the cable, ?

The 2693HM shows perfect 1920x1200 when connected by DVI to my desktop PC.
I can show up to 1680x1050 from the X200 without problems.
Latest display drivers from Lenovo are installed, and the screen is recognized as ‘2693HM (analog)’.

Specs:
Lenovo ThinkPad X200 (model: 7459-VZ9)
Intel Core Duo 2 P8400 @ 2.26 GHz processor
2 GB RAM
500 GB HDD
Onboard Intel 4500MHD (mobile Intel® GM45 Express chipset)
Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit

Thanks for any advice or help!

- John
