2.1 PCI Compliation slot?

  1. i want to purchase the Diamond ATI x1300 256MB PCI slot video card for my computer, since i have an intel 845G 64MB integrated graphics card.

    i read in the requirements section and it says that i need a 2.1 PCI compliant slot? i dont even know if i have a 2.1 compliant slot. i know that i have PCI slots but im not sure if they are 2.1. do i find out my power supply?

    Virtually all computers less than 10 years old have PCI 2.1 slots.

    As for the power supply, open up your computer and look at it - the power rating should be printed somewhere. I really doubt that you have the required 483W, but then again, that requirement is just a random number and your system may work just fine with a weaker PSU.

    If your current PSU is standard ATX, then just buy the ATI cad and try it - if it doesn't work, replace your PSU.
