So I just bought these 2 new gbs of DDR1 RAM for my computer.

It's a compaq presario SR1910NX, except I've replaced the on-board graphics with a GeForce 6600GT and I've bought a 450 Watt power supply to replace the 250 it came with.

And now when I put the 2gbs of RAM into the computer it loads up windows...and then freezes right after the Windows Loading thing goes away.

    Would anyone please help me?

Are they in the right pair of slots? Can you try one at a time to see if it work?

Yes, I've tried one in each of the 4 slots aswell, it wont work with the new ram at all. I think it's a compatability issue but I'm not sure.

If Compaq has a newer BIOS available flashing to it may help.

Run a memtest & see what it says. Btw did you check with the Compaq/HP website to see what kind of memory your system supported ? You can also look at the Crucial website & they can tell you which memory is guaranteed to work with that system.

Hey guys, here's an update. I went into BIOS and everything registers that I have the 2gbs and whatnot, it's just wont load windows afterwards. Is this a problem with Windows? Or could it still be compatibility?
