350W enough for GeForce 8400 GS?

  1. I have a 350W power supply and was wondering if it would be enough for a required 300W for a new video card.

    Which graphic card you are going to purchase, i.e. make/model etc. ?

    Your 350 PSU >> SHOULD << power a 8400GS easily. That card's not a real high draw item. The 8XXX and 9XXX series Nvidia cards are a bit more energy efficient than their predecessors, and in general don't draw as much as an equivalent 7XXX series card.

    However, this assessment is based on a PSU that is actually capable of delivering its rated output. Many off brand PSU manufacturers pretty much put whatever capacity they feel like on the specification plate.

    So the answer is, a 350 watt PSU will power an 8400GS. But without knowing what brand yours is, I really can't say positively that yours will.
