Futuremark has released a new trailer for the upcoming 3DMark 11 benchmark named High Temple. The technology demo shows advanced tessellation and lighting effects rendered in real time by 3DMark 11's native DirectX 11 engine. 3DMark 11 is slated for release later this year.

The high definition 1080p trailer features a mysterious ruined temple hidden deep inside a lush jungle, illuminated by volumetric lighting in the form of bright sunlight. Tessellation is used to add rich detail to the temple carvings and the jungle foliage while post processing delivers depth of field and other lens effects. The music is an original composition by renowned composer Pedro Macedo Camacho. The demo also includes an Antec logo at one point, an advertising placement that will help Futuremark offer a free edition of the benchmark (which will allow for unlimited runs) alongside the paid editions. The previous edition, 3DMark Vantage, could only be run once for free.

"The High Temple tech demo showcases the amazing real-time graphics that are possible today using readily available DirectX 11 hardware," Jukka Mäkinen, Futuremark CEO, said in a statement. "With 3DMark 11 releasing later this year and an ever increasing number of games using DirectX 11 there is a lot to look forward to for PC gamers."
