3M has announced that it will show a new 10-finger multitouch LCD display at CES this week. The 3M Display M2256PW is a 22-inch, 1680x1050 monitor designed for professionals -- or anyone else -- who require up to 10-finger input with speedy response times.

Naturally, it's marked as "compatible" with Windows 7 so it shouldn't require any third-party drivers, but 3M will offer software for XP, Vista, and Linux users. Connectivity options include DVI and VGA, audio inputs, and USB ports (the display relies on USB for the touchscreen functionality).

Unfortunately, 3M hasn't discussed pricing or availability, but hopefully more details will emerge as CES progresses.

1680x1050 max resolution really killed any interest on my part. I'm not investing in anything new that can't do 1080p, period.
