4GB RAM reads 3.++ in Windows XP 64bit

hi..

i have a 4GB ram installed, but when i take a look at my pc's basic info, it says i only have something like 3.25 or something for my ram. how do i get my pc to read all 4 gbs?

here are my pc specs:

processor: intel Quad Core Q8400
mobo: Gigabyte EP43-UD3L
ram: corsair TWIN3X2048-1333C9 DDR3 2x2gb
gfx: MSI 9600GT (OC) 512MB DDR3
hdd: western digital 500GB
odd: Samsung 22x SH-S223F
cpu cooler: asus triton
casing: raidmax tornado
psu: raidmax
lcd: LG Flatron
keyboard n mouse: microsoft wireless desktop set

can someone tell me what is wrong?
 
That is normal and typical.
Some Windows XP machines will read 3.5 GB, but most will only read 3.0 GB even though the memory is good.
If you installed Windows VISTA or Windows 7, they would read all four gigabytes.
There is nothing rong with your computer... The makers just designed for the future by accepting four gigabytes.
