  1. Hi I've got a major problem with my SATA II HDD. (Sorry if this topic has already been posted please link me to it). My computer's ben working normally for months, but this morning when I turned it on it didn't see my hard drive and asked me to insert a bootable media device or HDD and restart. I'm running Vista and have tried using the vista DVD start-up repair function but it doesnt work. I've got an ASUS P5N7A-VM motherboard and the hard drive is a 500 GB Seagate SATA II HDD. I've got a lot of imprtant files on that hard drive. What can i do?

is it detected in the bios?
if not then try pluging the data lead into another port on the motherboard

Um, it's not actually. and i wouldve opened the comp up to fix it myself but it wouldve voided warranty :/
So i sent it for free overnight repair, but when i get it back i'll try anotehr port if it's still not working. thanks
