The real question here is...why? Why would Japanese outfits be hellbent on helping an American company gain dominance in their enterprise sector? Why wouldn't they want to push development on Android, which Sony and most JP companies have standardized on?

  3. Because Surface just blew everything out of the water, tablets, ipad, etc. as it will have native integration to AD, has TPM chips, and more. If I can get it with Ivy i5's and Win 8 pro....I can get Win 7 Enterprise on there instead.

I am not a fainboi of Surface, just explaining the details concerning its use in the enterprise. The manufacturers have either hardware or software investments they want to support.

  4. I think you are being a little too optimistic about the surface. I am guessing it won't do anywhere near what anyone expects it to. It won't be a flop, but in MS's books it will be.

  5. Surface with i5 will cost as much as an ultrabook, which is aprrox. $1000 or twice the price of the entry level iPad. Bear in mind no 3g connectivity has been discussed during MS's presentation, so we still don't know if surface will be 3g-capable and judging from the fact that they have Nvidia as ARM chipmaker, it's clear no LTE will be available on the ARM version. So yes, there are a lot of unknowns surrounding surface and I don't want to be quick to judge here, but MS will have to really do their best if they want to make a dent in the market.

As for the outdated technology, Apple also uses fax - we had to fax them our developer documentation, and that is the most valuable company in the world :p
