8600GT 256MB GDDR3 or 512MB GDDR2

I'm looking to purchase a new graphics card and i'm down the two cards: an XFX 8600GT 512MB GDDR2 or an EVGA 8600GT 256MB GDDR3. At first i thought well the GDDR2 has more memory so it's the obvious choice, but i've heard that GDDR3 is clocked more and it makes it actualy faster. Now the GDDR2 cards memory is clocked at 1180MHz and the GDDR3 is clocked at 1400MHz. Is that a big enough difference to matter? Please help. I also hear that GDDR3 is easier to overclock and runs cooler but I'm not exactly sure if i would over clock. And if i did couldn't i get the XFX card and overclock that to 1400MHz? of those 2 the EVGA will be better but if u step up to a EVGA 8800GT u will be happier.
