8800GT not cutting it

I have a 650i ultra motherboard and want to put the best video card on it that it can handle. The system is 32 bit dual core 2.33ghz. Any help would be appreciated.

How exactly is your 8800GT not cutting it?
What games are you playing and at what resolution?
Are you able to overclock the processor?

Are you looking to replace the GPU and if so, what's your budget?
What size is your PSU?

aces high is the only game I play here lately have gotten lots of freezing and stuttering. Resolution has always been 1680 x 1050 max texture pack installed.
core speed 1997.7 mhz Intel core 2 duo e6550. Motherboard evga model nf66.
Budget is up to 300.00 us currency.

I had to take a few things apart to find the psu model number but it is an
orion hp585d 12volts 585watts and the rview on it was horrible I just read it.

Indeed.
IMO not worth upgrading, as you'd need a new powersupply, not only that, but you're CPU isn't going to keep up with a much faster card; though an overclock would be nice.

so what are my options a new psu, or cpu or both. overclocking seems a little dangerous I don't think I am that savvy. Is there a guide or checklist to help me acomplish this task?
