90% of Americans own or want a tablet

  1. People say tablets are more portable than laptops. You can't fit them in your pocket and you need a bag to carry them around... so I fail to see how portability is any better.

Why would anyone want a tablet? You can get a laptop for cheaper; set aside the savings in cost, you're miles ahead in performance and productivity.

Tablets are good for those who are keyboard illiterate, otherwise you're just buying an overpriced handicapped laptop.

I think of tablets like Segways, I'd never buy one but I'm love to own one.

I don't even want to own one right now... some wolf might mistake me for a sheep.

I'll never understand the comment Jobs made about keyboards - I bought a droid incredible when they came out because it was all the rage, and the first thing I hated about it was the damn touch screen keyboard. I cannot imagine having to suffer with one of those on a machine I intend to regularly use....

No thanks - I'll stick in the 10% who actually want to be productive with their time.

In your example, at least Ferrari cars are actually worth the price...

iPads are actually good, and worth the price, at least on the days when a woman feels something less than fresh!

i'm American...I want one.....but I won't pay for one...does that count? In other news, 90% of Americans want or own Lamborghini's!

  12. ok. Stats are unreliable. are 90% of americans even connected to the internet? lets talk about those small towns, old people, young people...are you still confident about your 90% remark. Yes, many people want a tablet, but i doubt your stats are remotely close.

anyway, I thought this article was more about the samsung galaxy tab rather than these imprecise remarks. do an in depth review of it...

I'm not an american, but been living in the US since 2000, I won the iPad 2 from work and I have to say that I would not have bought it mainly because is a lot of money, but the device is very handy, not bulky, but a nice size screen, very light weight and battery life is really good and I can use it at work. Now the smart phone that I have "android 4g evo", I barely use it anymore, the iPad is a lot better for my needs.

if you know anything about statistics you know thats not true. Whats more important is how they perform the survey to make sure there is no bias. As far as online surveys go, they are usually extremely biased.

If you were to take a survey of 1000 people that is completely unbiased, the probability of having a result not consistent with the true proportions due to sampling variability(chance) is very likely to be beyond 3 standard deviations in a normal model.
3 standard deviations is 2%. In other words the chance of getting a sample of people that don't represent the nation as a whole is below one in every 50.

Some people have to cater their belief that they look cool and important by checking Facebook and YouTube in the middle of a walkway in the mall.
  16. Society...so far fail.

Perfect example of how brainwashed the masses of this country are. Just like the cell phone thing..I wonder how many phones most people in this country have purchased/upgraded in the last 5 years..?!? In another 5 years where will be at..ipad 11, with basically the same features...?!?!

Seriously people if you need email and your social media bullsh** accessible on a phone 24 hours a day or need to have your face glued to a tablet in between "real computer time" to get your "computer fix" then you should start eating the flesh of the next human you see because you are a ZOMBIE!
  17. @example1013: Yeah and a tablet will give the illusion of being quicker too as it will take so long to actually do anything with all the stupid hand gestures. I know your mother will love doing work on a computer without a keyboard. lol, tablets are just stupid.

Save some money and gain productivity, don't fall for a fad. Check out the new Acer laptops. Extremely light, way more power than your mother will ever need, and only $400. It also has a keyboard unlike a handicapped tablet.
