ok im shopping for a processor and was wondering which would be better to have

which is better, HT Support with a p4 or a Dual core with a Pentium D?

also is core 2 duo the same as dual core?

Core 2 Duo / Anthlon64x2
Pentium D / Anthlon64
P4 / Semperon

core2duo is still the daddy at the moment imho.
I've built two rigs with the E6600, one with the Core2Quad and two with AMD X2 4600+, all work pc's. AMD sadly lack behind the intels in performance.
The entry level core2duo cpu (E6300) can outperform the AM2 5000+ and you can overclock it to hell and back. Cheaper too!
