None for Warhead, actually some minor increases, nothing significant. My E4600 is running at 2.7ghz and 3mb of l2 cache is plenty enough for Warhead, it isn't too CPU intensive.

Exactly. Unless you are into overclocking the E4600 is more than enough cpu for your needs. In fact, the choices from Intel are excellent for what you want to do at stock. You can get a great cpu upgrade without breaking the bank.

You sir are awesome. You just saved me money :) The reason I was going for the E8500 was because I wanted awesome performance because I thought it would be wayyyy better than the E7500.

Sorry to bother again (sigh), but something just popped into my head... Wouldn't it get hot inside the case? I think the case only has ONE fan... the PSU has a fan obviously lol, I know the HD 4830 has a fan thingy... but what about the CPU? Persons I talked to said that if the CPU gets a little hot it can bottleneck performance or something? So should I stick with the iMicro case? Or I could just get this case: Thermaltake Armor+ MX VH8000BWS . It comes with 3 fans... but do I really need it? Ughh, this is becoming expensive XD but I just wanna get everything now so that I don't need to get anything else in the future.

EDIT: http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/Product.aspx?C=1314&ID=1452#Tab1 <==== Probably gunna buy that case. I realized if I'm gunna be gaming harddd (which I am... :p) it would get HOT in there... So wouldn't that case help? It's also cheaper than the Armor+ up there XD

Actually the E4600 is the same price as the newer 45nm E7xxx while the E7xxx series performs MUCH better. Sadly, I purchased my E4600 about a week before the the E7xxx's came out D:.

the E7xxx is built on 45nm, and even the old 65nm processors did not get too hot. The CPU should be fine with the stock cooler in your case as long as you seat it properly with the stock thermal paste.

If your card gets hot, you can use software and boost the fan speed a little. Stock fan speed is generally around 30%, so you should have plenty of headroom.

Nope, not unless it is overheating and crashing your computer, or if you must throttle back your CPU because of the temps, both are very unlikely if you do everything properly and don't go past 3.6 - 3.8 ghz on your CPU, which should stay within the stock voltages for the Wolfdale dual cores.

So I can stick with case and stock cooler? Yay. Less expense XD Good stuff. If you could be so kind as to recommend a software to use to adjust fan speed, monitor the HD 4830, etc... ? That would help me out :) Thanks to everyone though! I finally know what to do :)

P.S. I'm sticking with the E1400 for about a week. Hopefully I could play Warhead at Gamer settings XD And thanks again for all the help everyone :)

Well the 4830 is a decently cool card, but if the problem ever does arise, the ATi Catylist Control Center (CCC) should have fan speed adjustment options. Remember to completely get rid of old drivers and install the latest ATi CCC. They come out every month with minor improvements, you don't have to get those though, just once every little while, or when you get a newer game. Of course, having up to date drivers is good.

Thanks a lot for all the help everyone!
So here are the final specs it should be:

CPU: Intel E7500 2.93GHz (I plan to OC it XD)
    M/B: GIGABYTEGA-G31M-ES2L / LG775
    Mem: 2GB Kingston DDR2
Video: Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 4830 (Plan to OC too XD)
HDD: Western Digital 500GB 7200 RPM
Sound: Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy SE
    PSU: Cooler Max RS-600-PCAR
    OS: Windows XP Home

I finally get a good computer... mostly free lol. I can't wait to game on this thing... It should hopefully run like a beast XD

Look bro, save up some money, get together the right parts and build yourself a new pc. You'll be happy with one that you built with your specifications.

might i suggest the 4770 instead of the 4830 since you haven't bought it yet the 4770 looks to be a killer card ever outpacing a 4850 in some games and all for like 100$.

I think the price will go down below 100 after the initial release though. Either way, good choices.

Well money isn't an issue to me anymore cuz I got my paycheck lol. Right now I'm thing of upgrading the MB to a P45 one... and buying the the GTX 260 instead... I was gunna go for the HD 4850 X2... but since the game I play the most is Crysis Warhead... and people are saying Warhead doesn't perform well with multi-gpu's... I'm gunna just stick to the GTX 260. What do yall think? If I buy the MB and the gTX 260.... won't be able to upgrade the RAM for a bit... but then I also heard other persons saying going from 2GB to 4GB greatly increases performance in Warhead... (I'm getting 64-bit Vista) . So here's my question... If I stick with the HD 4830 or even the HD 4850 or 4770... and upgrade the RAM to 4GB (w/ 64 bit), would I able to play Warhead smoothly (30fps or so) at enthusiast settings and at 1280x760 resolution? Or do I REALLY need to upgrade to the P45 M/B and GTX 260?

Crysis is totally overhyped, I wrote a little rant i don't care to bring up about it.

If your getting 64-bit vista, might as well throw in $20 for a 2 x 2 set.

I would go for a budget P43 board instead.

    GTX 260 is...I don't like the card, I say 4870 1gb ^^.

Yes you would be fine with a 4770 or 4870 or gtx 260 core 216 if all you want is 30 fps.
  13. xarchsagex Newcomer, in training Posts: 31

I don't like the GTX 260 either =( But I'm more worried about the 4870 getting hot, because reviews have stated it gets hot quickly... And I want to stick to that micro ATX case for now... which I'm sure doesn't have good enough cooling to stick with the 4870... I actually want way higher resolutions... I know Crysis is overhyped but I mostly play it because I have alot of friends that play it... and since my laptop failed on me (had 9800M GTX SLI), I've been outta it for a while... and this new comp a relative is giving me... through some upgrades... would make gaming freaking awesome... So if I get the 4870... would that case be enough?

AND Also... It's so difficult choosing parts and stuff... so right now I'm just thinking of sticking to the HD 4850... and I'd OC it... so at Gamer/Enthusiast settings.... w/Vista... at what resolutions would be most suitable for a 20" monitor? and what fps would I get?

I also don't plan to just play Warhead lol... CoD4/CoD5... Bioshock... Arkham Aslyum... Far Cry 2... WoW lol... but I just want a computer that I could stick with for a few years and at least play most games at Maximum/High settings... :(

    Sorry for the bother... =(
