A question about CDs/DVDs

I found a CD/DVD today NOT in its cover & am wondering if it was put in a CD/DVD player NOT hooked up to a computer or internet, could it / would it infect or damage a CD/DVD player only hooked up to a tv if it "was" infected? I know I won't try it on my pc's, but am curious, thank you.
I have every intention of destroying it either way, but I'm just curious.

As long as the CD/DVD player isn't hooked up to something with a storage solution it should be all fine!
