Access Denied on Registry key deletion, how do I fix it?

  1. I'm trying to install ESET smart security on a client computer, and everytime I do, it fails half way saying it cannot write to "AppData" location..

when I browse to the HKLM\Software\ESET the values are incorrect, so I want to delete all references to the software. It keeps saying Access Denied.

this is after I've verified the permissions on the reg key is set to Full Control for Administrators both domain admin and local admin..

what do I do? I can't install this otherwise...

Have you logged in as THE Admin (not an Admin).

Absolutely! Nothing I try seems to work. There is no way to even delete the ESET folder in regedit either, so I can start over. And this is the only system that is not protected.

    Any other suggestions? thanks

Use a simple registry editor. We use and very much like RegCleaner by Juoni Viourno, the former Microsoft Guy who was responsible for Tweak and TweakNow.
You can download it free from Full control over what you do, and any items deleted in error can be restored.
