Hi everyone! I am new to this forum and I am not sure if this is the right area for my question. I am in desperate need for help. Here's my situation: I had a Windows XP laptop computer that finally "expired" on me. (Power unit problems among other ailments.) I finally had a friend take out the hard drive for me. I put the hard drive into a casing to make it as an external drive. I now have a new laptop with Windows Vista. I am able to change ownership of the files in the "All users" and "(my name)" areas and copy them to another drive. My big problem is with the user designated as "owner". I utilize the same steps that I used with the other users' files with the files in the "owner" area but it keeps giving me the message "Access is denied". Would anyone please help me?
