Accessing Special Features on dvds

Hello, I've been playing dvd's on my portable player and have always wondered how to get to games and other special features using a dvd rom drive. I've recently gotten a laptop with a combo cdrw/dvdrom drive and I popped the dvd in, went to special features. . . and nothing. . Is there any special software I need to access the special features requiring a computer dvdrom drive. . or am I missing something?

Which DVDs specifically? Every dvd I've played that has special features I've been able to access through the menu screen on the dvd. What software are you using? I'd recommend something other than WMP, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD.

I have an X-files dvd. The special feature i want to access is a game on the dvd. When I get to it through the special features menu, it says that it requires a dvd rom drive. All the instructions say are to pop the dvd into a dvd rom drive to access the game

Just put the DVD into a dvd-rom, then open up Explorer, My Computer or another file browser....

Locate your dvd-rom, and see what files you find there...
I'm quite sure you'll find a .exe which should let you play the game...
