I have an Acer aspire 7720Z that runs Linux Mint. I bought it used and the had also did so. She do not know the admin. password and can´t contact the original owner. Now I can´t do any updates and other things that needs the password. I got from a friend Linux mint on an usb stick, I changed to a new HDD and tried to install it but the installation stops after a while. When I try to install Windows it ends whit the so called Blue Screen when it has loaded the needed files, and should start windows. I have tried several windows versions on hdd´s from my other laptops with no succsess. The blue screen advise to press F8 to Safe mode and disable Bios memory options such as caching or shadowing.
It begins with A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. How do I diable the bios options there is no such option in the setup.
The old Linux mint works fine exept that I can not do any changes to it
