Acer Iconia Tab A510 unveiled, packs Tegra 3 and ICS

We first heard about a Tegra 3 successor to the Iconia Tab A500 back in November. Curiously, Acer never publicly acknowledged the tablet, even though Nvidia briefly showed it off at CES, but it looks like they are now ready to finally make it official by kicking off pre-orders for the Iconia Tab A510 in the U.S. and Canada.

The device features a 10-inch screen with a 1280×800 resolution, a quad-core Tegra 3 processor, 1GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. It boasts a built-in micro HDMI port, micro USB 2.0 port, microSD card reader, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, 1MP front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera with autofocus, and a 9800mAh battery good for up to 11 or 13 hours of video playback via Wi-Fi or local storage, respectively.

The Acer Iconia Tab A510 measures 10.1 by 6.9 by .43 inches (HWD) and weighs about 24 ounces, making it a bit heavier and thicker than both the new iPad and Asus' Transformer Prime tablet. Nevertheless, as one of just a handful of Android devices shipping with version 4.0 of Google's mobile operating system, also known as Ice Cream Sandwich, Acer's offering seems like a great alternative if you are looking for a non-iOS tablet.

Unfortunately they didn't give out a specific release date, but pricing is set at $450.

Cheapest quad-core tablet available... its only 450 bucks. Will grab it as soon as it's available, though you can only pre-order it at this moment...

Lacks RAM they need to beef up the RAM to 2GB as 1GB out of the box on these major players usually less due to the bloatware on them. Quad Core doesn't really mean much since not even the Dual Core was fully supported with Apps. Everything will run but the Single Core is more populated. Dual and Quad will come in handy for gamer. Why aren't these tablets using 64GB for NAND IS and 64GB for ES. Still only pushing 32GB NAND IS and 32GB ES either full SD or microSD. These SD chips have come down in price. ACER, ASUS and Toshiba needs to step-up to the plate.
