Acquiring network address

I have a Toshiba nb205 (3 Yrs) with Windows XP that I just restored. All working except wireless, I get aquiring network address message and it never connects hard wired is fine

use Wired or WiFi but not both - - manage this by disabling the one you DON'T want to use.
 
ok, connect the cable and then update the WiFi Driver.
use the control panel->Admin Tools->run as admin (Computer Management) ->device manager
expand the [+] network adapters and find the WiFi device; double click
Click the Driver tab and then the Update Driver button.

Likely will need to reboot.

Now try to see if your device even sees your router;
Be sure the wifi feature is enabled on your router AND on your computer too.
Use the control panel->Wireless Wizard to find routers - - are there any and is yours seen?
 
Message said it could not find a later driver. When I checked the computer adapter using the wizard its sees it but says not connected
