Adding a second monitor

Hi, I'm new here and glad to have found the site. Hope someone can help. I'm in need of adding a second monitor (I already have it). I checked with the manufactuer of my system and was told that my video card supports a second monitor, all I had to do was purchase a DVI to VGA adapter. Is there anything else that I need besides this cable, if yes how great is the cost? And as for the adapter, how do I know which one to buy?
with thanks

Hello! Welcome to TechSpot

It is only an adapter about 2 in. long, that is unless
the second monitor is a digital.
Radio shack has em for about $24.00usd.
What kind of video card does your system have?

Follow this Link for a good pic. Top image is the one.

Thanks for your help. After some considerable thought I think I'm going to go another route. Hopefully its the right one. I work with several programs at the same time-thus my reason for a second monitor. But I've been wanting to purchase an LCD monitor 19". Maybe that's my answer and excuse for shopping!

Yup

That would make things much easier, lcd are digital, nicer too!
1 day I hope to get one to dual up with..
