Adding hardware

I have a Dell Optiplex 170l and I want to change out the hard drive to a 500G drive and add 2-1GB memory. Thoughts, I have been given the hard drive and would only have to purchase the memory.

Am I just wasting my time with this. Right now the computer is so slow.

What are your PC's specifications? Was it always this slow or did it get this way later?

yep its a waste dont even do it. you can buy a basic system for about 300 to 400 and get everything you want

Yes, your specs are so low that it wouldn't be worth the money trying to upgrade anything, IMHO. Save your money and buy a better system.
