Hi Folks im having a pronblem adding a second Sata drive to my pc.

The main drive is a sata drive and im trying to add a second drive.

I've added the drive no.2 in and it is plugged into the second Sata drive port on my motherboard. The bios bootup messages say its found the second drive however XP tries to load but refuses to start saying there's a problem, even starting in safe mode bring up the same error message - 'A problem has been detected and windows has shut down to prevent damage to your computer' it then goes on to say 'remove any newly installed hd or hd controllers'.

Can anyone help or point me in the right direction?

Presumably disconnecting the new drive clears the error?
If so the chances are that the SATA setup is set to RAID in the BIOS?

Also, check to see which HDD the BIOS is set to boot from, chances are it is trying to boot from your new one, not the one with your Operating System.
