Administration permission

I want to copy a large amount of data to another drive,but no matter what I do I keep getting "You'll need to provide administration permission to copy this file" I've checked permissions and everything looks fine,but still wont move, please help me

What files are on there are some files vital for the drive or Windows its already on?

Nah its just my mp3 backup,but it is a lot,I cant even copy a file over to the drive at the moment

So its just MP3 meaning theres no vital files or drivers... In this case Im also stumped

Yeah its just media back up,mp3's and mpegs etc

What OS are you on? Maybe that info could help

I know this is a software problem because its software making a deal about it

Is this drive for the MP3's in need of a password for use? I know a couple of USB drives do have that feature.Are you unsure? It would help if you knew the brand of the drive.

Thank you for the help, I'm running windows 10 ,snd copying from a hard drive to a server hard drive via a cat5 cable and I think they are western digital,it was working fine a few weeks ago and now nothing

First, verify Windows thinks the partition is sane; insert the device, then

cp->admin tools-> right-click computer mgmt-> runas administrator
click Disk Mgr

look at the drive letter for the device and the Status column should be Healthy

if it is, then there's a NTFS permission issue,
otherwise, you've got a bad partition table on the device
