    Hello,

    Quick question,

    I have a cheap gaming rig - Asus M3NHT with 2 x 9800GTs in SLI.

I currently have a Amd x2 5200+, how much faster do you think the Phenom x2 550 will be? it's only £70?

    Regards,

    Alex.

depending on the application, between 20-30% faster. It is a much better gaming CPU than the 5200+
You should also realize more performance (FPS) from your SLI'd GT 9800's. If you have not already checked, I am almost certain that your MB supports the x2 550, but check it with the CPU support list for the Bios update.

don't forget lager cacher memory too. I was use Amd x2 5200 and now I have been upgrade my cpu Phenom x2 555 , You can upgrade to Phenom X2 555, it's just little more cost than X2 550 and you get speed bump +100 mhz compare to X2 550

yes, you need bios upgrade for your motherboard . You can check your motherboard website if they provide for bios update to your motherboard
