All files are corrupted

i'm having a major problem right now. was infected by virus so did a format on the c drive and fresh install of windows xp. but now i'm not able to open any o my files that were in other drives. the jpeg, bmp, txt, doc, xls, psd....any any.......can't open any of them. did a chkdsk but still not working. tried file repair, stilll does not works. this has happened to all my desktop except my laptop.....the document files will show garbage value when opened and other picture files won't show any thing at all says no preview available, the psd, crd and fh11 won't open.... als when i copy these files to any other working computers they won't open....can some one suggest a very nice rfile repair software or any other suggestions.

Pretty sure your data files are corrupt
Possibly by Virus, or by physical Harddrive corruption

Therefore, the only way I can think of is to undelete your original files from doing the format, with a good (free) undelete tool

By the way, yes backing up is important, but you must confirm the files were correctly backed up in the first place (ie opening and checking them) Now I know this is after the fact, but just in case you're ever in the position of confirming backups again.
