Amazon updates Kindle DX, drops price to $379

Today they have announced an updated version of the Kindle DX e-book reader, with a higher-contrast display and a lower price of $379.     $379? (altho it does say less for an older model). You could get a full blown netbook at a black friday sale, etc. for $200. Why do people want these? Kindle should be around $50.
