    another point of view

Here's something you might want to think about. The marketing guys all over the world practice a money sucking technique, which I like to call "cream collecting". The idea is simple: when releasing a new product, set the price at a much higher than reasonable level. when all the ones with enough money/need/desperation (the cream) spend their bucks on it, lower the price to the level that's acceptable to general buyer.

This is precisely why I wait at the very least 3 months before I decide to spend my hard earned bucks on a new toy.

[sigh] wish I had this kind of problem... man...

All righty smarty pants... I have read what you've written properly (notice the lack of "e" between "l" and "y") and I have some questions for you:

    1. How old precisely is this new "technoligy" ?
    2. Have you heard of a concept called relativity?

If the answer to the latter is yes, then is it fair to say, that one might have a different opinion on what is new and what is old? Also, if say one decides to buy a 6 month old product, while there's still a large amount of market (say 50%) that's using technology 3 or 4 years older, doesn't it make it relatively new when compared to this "piece of market" ?

I dont think it's worth to wait for new AMD CPUs only for the DDR2, becouse current Athlons seem to benefit more from low latency rather than big bandwidth. Last I heard the basic architecture is not changing and DDR2 gives you more bandwidth but worse latency.

yea that is so true. and there always is newer stuff being made before the new stuff that hasnt even been released yet is out. but still wouldnt u be a little mad if u just bought a really expensive part and then the day u get it an even better part gets released for cheaper?

i wasnt sayin wait forever i was just saying atleast 2-3 weeks to see what happens with ati or nvidia. the new ATI is actually suppose to be out before the end of January. but i dont really know about nvidia.

no matter what u decide to do with the set up u have ur comp will be great
