America Online has laid off 50 employees involved in Web browser development at its Netscape Communications subsidiary amid a reorganization of its Mozilla open-source browser team. The move affects fewer than 10 percent of Netscape employees, according to an AOL representative, who added that the company plans to continue to support current versions of the Netscape browser and the Netscape Web portal.

Additionally, Wired is running a story on the 'browser wars' detailing how IE remains king although the Mozilla project (revamped homepage btw) has been gaining some ground as of late... If you are up to some alternative browsing I would definitely recommend Mozilla's latest Firebird browser, although I know a lot of TS readers that are Opera fanatics.
