How crazy do you have to pay for a device that has no USB, no multitasking and a 1 Ghz processor?

I agree it is ridiculous, but good *will* come from this in time.

Adobe wants their player on Apple products. Both companies are posturing right now, but this is Apple's way to force Adobe to improve the performance of Flash. In the end, this is actually good for all of us because Flash adds quite a bit of unnecessary overhead on encapsulated content and there certainly has to be way to make it better. With Flash 10, Adobe has actually increased performance by 10-30% in some areas, so there are obviously gains to be made and I'm sure the pressure from Apple has been part of that.

As pompously arrogant as it is, Apple needs Adobe less than Adobe needs Apple. Apple knows this. If Adobe doesn't do more to cave into pressure (and soon), HTML 5 is going to really hurt continued Flash development. It's a slippery slope from there and both companies know it.

Apple fans... Honestly, this doesn't appeal to me too much. I'd much rather spend the money on something like a netbook or macbook. The iPad is a toy, a very fancy toy.

I was about to say Apple is more sexuality in lieu of creativity, but that's not it. It's more aesthetics in lieu of creativity. I will not shell out money I don't even have on a big Ipod Touch. Jeebus!

Sorry to inform you, but if it wasn't for Microsoft, Apple would have died in the late 90s

I'm surprised that amount of people were already into buying an Ipad. It's such a strange name: IPad. Anyways, I'll be skimming reviews to see what these buyers think of the Ipad. I personally would rather just buy a laptop that is easer and foldable. It might be hard to use depending on where you use it. The IPad doesn't even have a large hard drive.

The early buyers are the Appleheads and the victims of they hype frenzy... Most of the smart consumers who aren't driven by irrational OCD-like needs to buy anything Apple, or anything new and shiny, will wait a bit and see if the iPad manages to get some killer "must-have" apps that will push them off the fence. I know publishers are embracing it, magazines like Popular Science are making their content available on the platform, and there is a strong push to make it a necessity of some kind... But I'm still with most of the more well-versed technophiles out there, and find that the price/features ratio is just unacceptable, particularly when you factor in the draconian limitations and lockdowns on apps that are Apple's normal M.O.

The iPad will obviously have enough buyers to be successful. But competing tablet slates with more power, more features, and less restrictions will be the big winners in the long run. I think there will be a stabilization that will end up providing a very close parallel between the iPad vs. other tablets ratios and the Mac vs other computers ratios.

Lets bow down to the creator and give him more of our money. Long live Steve Jobs. :p I have to hand it to Apple for PR though.

This is proof that Apple can slap their brand name and image on any given item and sell it. It doesn't matter if said item lacks expected features, is completely overpriced, or has any other number of drawbacks. If it has the Apple name (and pricetag), people will eat it up.

Even though I personally view anyone that purchases this as a complete tool, I have to commend Apple for being able to sell their image to these people. They have certainly created a loyal following. If Apple were to deliver nothing but a box of steaming dog crap to these peoples' doors, they would still ask for more.

iPad = worst piece of "magic" ever.

Show me a Tegra 2 tablet, and I will buy it right now.

These numbers don't surprise me at least because there are so many Apple fanboys out there. As for me, I will wait at least until second generation, then I might consider getting it myself. There are always so many problems with first generation gadgets.

Even though the name might suggest a feminine product, it is still a bragging right if you have one when it comes out. Heck, I bet there will be a lot of people who will have to wait couple more month to buy it because the demands are so high.

    Amazing Numbers, what's that?

That's INCREDIBLE and it looks like a winner to me. All my friends alrady want one (me too)!
Hopefully other features will be added (phone) and the price will go down a bit.
Apple always jump starts the industry and to bad it didn't have 95% (ok maybe 33%) of the market!
