What just happened? Analysts have already predicted that the novel coronavirus would see iPhone shipments fall, but the disruption could be worse than first anticipated. In Apple’s latest investor report, the company has warned that it doesn’t expect to meet its previously announced quarterly revenue guidance because of the outbreak.

Renowned Apple analysts Ming-Chi Kuo earlier this month slashed his first-quarter iPhone shipment forecast by 10 percent due to disruption caused by the coronavirus outbreak in China, where most of the company’s products are manufactured. And while Apple says work has resumed in the country, it’s "experiencing a slower return to normal conditions" than expected.

“The health and well-being of every person who helps make these products possible is our paramount priority, and we are working in close consultation with our suppliers and public health experts as this ramp continues. These iPhone supply shortages will temporarily affect revenues worldwide,” said the company.

In addition to supply shortages, the coronavirus is also causing demand for its products to dwindle in China. It’s seen many Apple stores in the country closed or operating at reduced hours with low customer traffic.

Apple says the coronavirus situation is “evolving.” The company is also doubling its previously announced donation to aid efforts in trying to control the spread of the outbreak.

The coronavirus has had a huge effect on the tech industry, with China’s smartphone shipments expected to fall 50 percent. It’s also seen MWC canceled, delayed products, and lower predicted earnings for many companies.

Too bad its only a shortage! These $1K+ phones are all Apple's doing. They never have tried to compete by lowering prices. Competitors never feel the need in lowering their prices. And people buy into them regardless.

OH NO, what on earth are we going to do? I'd rather suffer the corona virus, than live without a new iPhone.... :scream:

I'll put on a hazmat suit and go to China to pick it up if I have to... :poop:

I skipped iPhone 11 because they didn’t offer 1TB in the Pro Max.

Hope they fix that in the 12.

Or I’ll wait till the 13.

LOL, nice way to INFLATE the already high prices...say there will be a shortage. They do this pretty much with every release, hoping to generate enough buzz for the iSheep to wait in line for hours or days just to be the first to get a new phone.

Hey, at least now you can sell your iphone 11 at over around $1.2k and buy a high end pc with the money

I will be interested to see if they are simply limiting production so they can jack up the prices as part of "supple & demand" ....... now could be the BEST time to break away from Apple!

There's no iPhone shortage. Apple is just taking advantage of gullible *****s with too much money. So you know, par for the course!

Low sales of smart phones.................................................... Democrats ------> Trumps fault.

Too much panic over a virus that has killed 2000 people. It killed around 2.5% of the people it infected, mostly old people with weak immunity.

In comparison, its cousin MERS, has killed 37% of all infected people. Making it deadlier than cancer, plague, diphtheria and most of other diseases. But the media didn't even mention MERS. Most of people on the planet never heard of it. Because it was spread by refugees.

From 2012 to 2015 MERS was spreading among Middle-Eastern refugees. To prevent countries from rejecting refugees (which would be a great idea) the media didn't warn their own citizens of the horrible virus. Mainstream media has betrayed their audience one more time. As usual.

In comparison to this, COVID-19 is a little baby. By case mortality rate it is around 15 times weaker than MERS. So if you're afraid of Chinese tourists, imagine how much you had to be afraid of Middle-Eastern refugees.

Of course, alarmists will say: "Maybe by death rate Corona virus 19 is not that strong, but the total number of deaths is higher than in MERS, since the virus has infected a lot more people. So even those 2.5% of mortality amounted to over 2000 deaths". Okay, by that logic COVID-19 does look more deadly. But in that case let's just say that ordinary influenza kills around 650,000 people annually. Yes, every freaking year around 650,000 people will die of flu, which is 325 times more than from Corona virus 19.

So, by any criteria, Corona virus is a lot weaker than many other diseases that are spreading among the population. Which means this is an artificially created panic. More people die of GMO food than of COVID-19.
