Applications won't run virus

the other day i went to open windows media player and a prompt came up saying would i like to save windows media player with firefox or cancel, then i tried other applications and all of them do this, i think its a virus but i cant run an antivirus program to check, I created another account that is virus free and could copy my things onto here but that would take consecutive days, does anyone know a solution to this or have the same problem, Im using windows 7 basic.

What you need to do is boot from a live cd like AVG Rescue disk there is a few out there Kaspersky is another one if you can get on the Internet and download the iso to disk then boot from that.
