ARM’s processor lineup has been missing a suitable mid-range offering for a while now, but they aim to remedy that with the recently announced Cortex-A12. Unveiled at Computex 2013 in Taipei, the A12 is targeted at devices sold unsubsidized between $150 and $350, to fill the gap between budget phones and more expensive devices using running the power-hungry A15.

Their current chip on the market, the aging A9, doesn’t quite cut it and has left users wanting for more processing power. The A12 promises to be the solution, offering the same efficiency as the A9, but gains of up to 40 percent in single-threaded processing performance, reports ExtremeTech. The new chip is 30 percent smaller as well, due to the 28nm process technology used in manufacturing, as opposed to the 45 and 32nm processes used for the A9.

The A12 is being paired with the Mali-T622 GPU, which is being touted as the perfect system-on-a-chip (SoC) combination part for mid-range devices. The dual-core T622 offers another 50% power efficiency improvement over the previous generation T-605, and supports multi-core rendering of OpenGL ES 3.0, DirectX 11, and OpenCL 1.1.

The new chips are expected to be licensed to Samsung soon for their new generation of mid-range devices, which should be welcome news for anyone who has used a cheaper Android smartphone in the last couple of years. Look for phones and tablets powered by the Cortex-A12 and Mali-T622 in the middle of 2014.

The other MPU aren't that bad but the last one ARM 11 with Mali-400 can run very well. Dual core will help these SoC much better than prior.
