I have an Acer Aspire 5100 that is currently running Windows XP. I was thinking about upgrading to Windows 7. Can I do that with this laptop?

Acer doesn't have Windows 7 drivers for that laptop so you may have issues but it may work just fine if Windows already has drivers for everything. I would suggest making an image of your OS before switching to Windows 7 just in case it doesn't work out.

Buy and external drive or use a CD/DVD burner to make an image. I use Acronis True Image for imaging the system. If you have multiple internal hard drives you could use the 2nd drive to store the image.
