    Hello everyone,

I have a rig I built 4 and a half years ago that I'm trying to upgrade piece by piece, which includes the following hardware:

    - AMD 64 4800x2 2.4 ghz
    - 2gb ddr500 ram
    - ATI Radeon x1900xt 512mb
    - a8r32 MVP-deluxe motherboard
    - 500w cooler master power supply

I obviously need to upgrade this system to play some decent games and for 3D animation, and I wanted to upgrade my videocard specifically, I was looking at the radeon 5850 as it has some pretty good specs and isn't too expensive. I will upgrade my mobo and everything later but I can't until I allocate more funds. Would a 5850 be compatible with my mobo? (it would only be temporary). I already ordered a new power supply @ 1080w for decent power, I just want to get rid of this x1900xt as it overheats like crazy and causes artifacts constantly. What would you recommend i do? My next mobo will be good and i want to upgrade to a quad core phenom or maybe an i7..I'm on the fence when it comes to processors. Thanks for reading.

Any PCI-e x16 video card will work... Your motherboard can accommodate 2 of these video cards

yes the 5850 is nice but you might look at the 6870 as it is faster and around the same price look for deals on them though.
